Spring is a season of new beginnings, and flowers like the Common blue violet, Golden alexanders and Foxglove beardtongue provide sustenance to early flying bumblebees, moths and a newly emerged Black swallowtail butterfly. A queen bumblebee emerges from her nest hole in the ground, where she has spent her winter. Last year's dried Switchgrass provides nesting material for birds like this female Baltimore oriole.
