I received a call form the Art Editor of the New York Times to create a watercolor of an Alaskan Red Salmon to accompany an article they were publishing on the spawning habits of the Alaskan Red Salmon in Bristol Bay Alaska. I was given certain directives and a photo of the said fish. I painted the fish in watercolor on Strathmore HI plate illustration board for a 24 hour turnaround. The editor had the fish on his desk the next day and he placed the image of my fish on the front and back cover of the Food Section of the New York Times above the fold on the top left with a byline. It was a great opportunity and fun job. My illustration works can be viewed on
