I aim to create compelling digital illustrations that clarify complex biological phenomena or structures, with a focus on life at the cell and molecular level. I enjoy using interesting color palettes and elements of graphic design in all of my work, including simpler pieces such as schematic illustrations and diagrams. I am also fascinated by the use of 3D computer modeling to produce visual environments that can pull the viewer into a microscopic or molecular world.

I immensely enjoy working at the intersection between biology and art. After pursuing an academic career in biology and serving as a faculty member at Colgate University, I switched my career focus to scientific illustration so that I could combine my knowledge of and enthusiasm for science with my lifelong love of drawing and design. I have since produced hundreds of illustrations for clients that include the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Multiple Sclerosis Discovery Forum, and Rockefeller University Press.

One of my favorite tasks is starting with a concept or rough pencil sketch and turning it into a polished illustration. I look forward to new challenges!
