Elizabeth Morales has been working as a scientific illustrator and art developer since 1985, when she established her freelance business, Morales Studios.

She began her art training at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the High School of Art and Design, both in New York City. She went on to complete her BA and MA in Anthropology/Archaeology in New York and California. She completed a two-year degree in architectural rendering at San Francisco State, and has studied illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and at the University of California at Berkeley.

For many years she worked as a graphic designer in San Francisco. Today she works as an art developer and scientific illustrator for a variety of clients including publishing companies such as John Wiley, Pearson Learning, Cengage, Oxford University Press, Houghton Mifflin, Nature, and Zoobooks.

She has also worked on museum exhibits for a variety of California organizations such as the Audubon Society, Sierra Club, Strybing Arboretum, The Discovery Center, The Marine Mammal Center, and the City of San Francisco Embarcadero sidewalk project.

She has been a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators since 1986, and has served on the Board as Membership Secretary, Treasurer and as President.
