No Reservations by Guerin Swing
Guerin Swing’s “No Reservations” mixed media on canvas is his interpretation of our world in discord. The imagery depicts the worlds experience of the most recent 2020 Covid 19 lockdown which was reminiscent of the infamous 1992 L.A. Riots.
The lockdown sparked civil unrest- years of racial and economic inequality in our cities. It ignited national conversations about racial and economic disparity and police use of force that continues 25 years later.
“No Reservations” comes to terms with race, our planet and humanity. Despite the worlds angst, the biggest existential lesson to take away at this historical moment is that we are responsible for our own resilience. The face of Conan the Destroyer resembles a heroic force in a world of strife and conflict. The words woven through this image suggest that there will always be hope and love amongst chaos.
