This small Judean "Masada" prutah coin is one of two identical pieces in the collection (the other's accession number 2016.69). On the obverse, the coin bears an amphora with a wide brim and two handles; on the reverse, a vine leaf on a branch. The coin dates to the first century of the Common Era during the First Jewish Revolt against the Romans. It is called "Masada," the last outpost for the rebellion, because an archeological dig uncovered a large quantity of these coins.
