Kwan Yin, seated on a wooden stand.

Kwan Yin is known within the Buddhist faith as a ‘bodhisattva,’ a liberated person, who has selflessly given up the progression to Nirvana, the ultimate state of enlightenment that is the goal of Buddhists, in order to remain in this world to help humankind. Kwan Yin is the goddess of mercy and compassion linked with maternity, known for performing miracles and answering prayers.

There are examples of a few of her many poses in
this collection.
