Music and rhythmic instruments are used in nearly all religious rituals and ceremonies. Some, like this rattle, reflect the spirit worlds. The use of a rattle is commonly used by all Native American tribes.

The traditional rattle is crafted from materials from the three kingdoms: animal, mineral and plant. The rattle usually has leather and feathers. The rattle usually contains rocks. The handle is made of wood, and the container is a gourd or made of wood, The sound when used in ceremonies assists in creating spiritual energy derived from a trance like state.

This rattle is a gift of Dhyani Ywahoo, a New Age spiritual teacher who follows three different spiritual lineages, including the Tsalagi/ Cherokee tradition.
