Small bronze figure of Buddha, spirit-portrait of Suzuki Roshi and of D.T. Suzuki before. With wood stand.
"BLISSFUL PEACE: A Portrait of Suzuki Roshi (Selected 1974). This spirit-portrait of Suzuki Roshi is an old Japanese bronze Buddha given to me by my godfather in 1958. It was his "portrait'' of D. T. Suzuki whom he revered and studied with at Columbia in the early '50s. This Buddha sat for years beside an original print of Roshi's famous 1966 enso, which has since been donated to the GTU. I decided this sculpture would be my imaginary portrait of Roshi when I began to meditate with some of his dharma heirs on Buddha's Birthday 1974."
