Murphy was exploring the Biennial 2012 theme of hospitality through the humble pigeon.
180 humble pigeons, all in bright colours and all was roosting on the front of the Walker Art Gallery at 2012 Biennial.
These birds are made to feel welcome as they take up perches on the roof, portico and in other nooks and crannies.
Murphy explains: “The emblem of the pigeon highlights the nature of transience and a very human struggle in finding acceptance or a natural sense of place.”
