This is perhaps the third or fourth painting in what became my current style, which is painting on clothing fixed to a solid wooden canvas.
In this, less is more version of my style, I allowed more of the Masonite board to show through the very open weaved fabric. I made this at the same time I created “A step out for a smoke”. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKcimxFlDfl/
For both works, I went to a secondhand clothing store to get clothing and fabric because I was so broke at the time that I couldn’t use any of my own clothes. The fabric in the lower section is actually a curtain and not clothing.
I cut the corner off the tubes of acrylic yellow and black paint then squeezed out the paint without thinking of anything subjective. For me, they ended up creating a wedding ring and a squiggle which led to the inspiration of the title. I liked how the paint ended up laying on top of the sweater fragment instead of soaking into it.
