Like most of the paintings I’ve done, I make the stretcher, fasten clothing on it, pour an abundance of latex paint on it to prime it and then splash paint across it until I get inspired with a visual theme. In this case, it was more than three months later. Unlike almost most my previous works, where I come up with the title after I had finished, I had the title the moment the visual popped in my head. I think some musicians have the same type of creative process, sometimes they don’t know where the work is going until it is finished, sometimes they know where they want to take it from the very beginning. As an abstract artist, I generally do not have a concrete plan of what I want the final image to be. That is part of the fun for me. Ironically, I was listening to, what I consider, upbeat music when I was creating this (Caro Emerald, Parov Stelar, Tape Five, 11 Acorn Lane, Caravan Palace).
