The creation of woodblock Prints collages & cut-outs, depicting my life experiences. The human perspective embraces the spiritual and physical aspects of life. Within this life we all experience from time to time: pain, happiness, loneliness, joy, sorrow, and many other emotions which arise from our interaction with the natural forces that we encounter on a daily basis, and over a lifetime of existence. The intangible forces which are ever present make up the side of existence that is spiritual in essence.
Self-expression of the human spirit has been a pursuit of humankind for ages, and as an artist, is certainly mine. The search for artistic freedom takes into account the experience of creative efforts on the part of myself and others. The greatest joy in this creative process is working out problems, developing design concepts, and interacting with people from all walks of life.
At the heart of my search lay the question of what aspect of human spirituality affects me, and how to visually convey that artistic message.
The production of hand rubbed limited edition woodblock prints, printed on Asian printing paper made from plant fiber. The color reduction technique of woodblock printing is utilized; which adds color to the imagery. The wood grain in the master plate, coupled with textured Asian printing paper gives my art its uniqueness in color variations & tonal qualities.
