Winner in the category of painting at Hornsby Art Prize 2015. This Painting describes the sparse hills around the old gold mining area of Hill End. The hills were depleted of their precious metals in the gold-rush years. Their is a quiet sense of loss and desertion in the area. It serves as a statement that we continue to plunder the earth for its natural resources and that we will, no doubt feel that same sense of loss as the consequences eventuate. This painting won first Prize in the painting category at the Hornsby Art Prize in 2015.
