From the ‘Sir Joseph Banks Park series’. When I arrived from the UK, I initially disliked a lot of the Australian plants. I found them sharp, dry and lacking in the vibrant colours that I was familiar with back in England. I have since grown to love them for their sculptural and textured forms, of which the Banksia is a fine example. They are fantastic to draw, as they require a range of diverse mark making techniques as they transition from flower through to seedpod.
