The inspiration for this painting is my love of the sea and fishing, which I developed as a child in my native South of France.
The painting depicts an inlet along the Mediterranean coast, with a view from a window of several fishing boats moored near the shoreline, some near an old wooden jetty. The inlet is defined by the shoreline and vegetation in the distance; the reflection of the sun setting over the water highlights the boats.
The window frame is of an aged cream colour, and the shutters are whitish with an aged appearance. On the terracotta window sill sits a lantern, fishing reel and an empty bottle.
The feeling generated by this painting is one of peace and tranquillity at the end of the day.
