Artist statement: I have been making large paper paintings in watercolor and pastels. After reading and looking at a book by Jack Lenor Jargon on some elementary weaving techniques, I began to cut the paintings up and weave them into large - dimensional pieces. I sprayed the sheets with a thick coat of acrylic to protect the surface and then formed it dimensionally so that it would look like folds and huge gatherings. I particularly like the effect of the various colors as they overlap – the colors are mixed by one’s eye and new colors emerge.
