This painting is all about imagination, playfulness and freedom. I love seeing kids dressed up as super heroes or fairies - even just to take a trip to the shops . This scene goes even further with the classic chip thief - the humble seagull playing the villain, being chased by the caped crusaders! The Batman suit is also a nod to the time that Melbourne was known as Batmania in the 1830's.
