This new series uses my usual stencil technique, but this time the subjects are not inspired by memory or place - but are portraits created using AI - synthetic faces made from code. Using perforated steel as my canvas, suspended over fluorescent backgrounds, each image plays with light and perception - asking: where does human identity end, and digital mimicry begin?
The holes in the steel represent pixels, the colours behind them blur and mix in the eye, not on the canvas. As the viewer shift their position, so too does the image - just like the line between the real and the virtual.
