Noisy Friar Birds 12 is an Encaustic artwork with image transfer of Noisy Friar Birds on cradled panel, beautifully framed in charcoal stressed wood, and is ready to hang. It is created using encaustic (hot beeswax), image transfer. I am inspired by the beautiful birds that visit my garden. Encaustic is an ancient 2000+ year old medium, most known on the Fayum Mummy Portraits.
CARE OF ENCAUSTIC PAINTINGS
This painting is completed using beeswax, damar resin and image transfer and should not be exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources which may damage the wax surface. It should also NOT be left in a car on a hot day. The surface can be gently “polished” from time to time to restore the sheen to the surface using soft material like an old T Shirt or stocking.
