A Hydrothermal Vent (sometimes called Black Smokers) occurs at the bottom of the deep ocean. The yellow is appropriate because is is sometimes called Sulphur Vents. In Sulphur Vents, bacteria grow on the sulphur, and animals eat the bacteria. Unlike everywhere else on earth, there is no sunlight and no plants for the rest of life to feed off. The Hydrothermal Vents are very hot.
CARE OF ENCAUSTIC PAINTINGS
This painting is completed using beeswax and damar resin and should not be exposed to direct sunlight or other heat sources which may damage the wax surface. It should also NOT be left in a car on a hot day. The surface can be gently “polished” from time to time to restore the sheen to the surface using soft material like an old T Shirt or stocking.
