"Spotted Lanternfly" is one of my series of "Terrible Beauties"- a reference to W.B. Yeats' poem "Easter, 1916." While the Irish were unsuccessful against the British in this Easter rebellion, the Irish Republican movement was invigorated by the tragedy, and "a terrible beauty was born." Nature provides us with many terrible beauties.
