This piece was created during the conversations on the preservation of the Sakura Trees in front of Pike Place Market. Prior to the incarceration of Japanese Americans, over 75% of Pike Place Market was represented by Japanese American farmers. The cherry trees were planted in honor of those forcibly removed after the signing of Executive Order 9066 during WWII. The pink Kodama are the souls of the cut down trees looking for their homes- representing the displacement of both history and the trees.
