Modeled after Titian's painting of 1510 called "Man with a Blue Sleeve", the artist gazes from over the shoulder with the head in 3/4 view and an arm resting on a ledge as a male might be represented at that time. The sleeve drapes over the ledge upon which the arms is resting and protrudes into the viewer's space.
