Candelabrum

3 torchbearers as the bringers of light. ‘Candelabrum’ is a fully functional sculpture that holds 4 side candles and 1 higher center candle. The figures lean into each other in a warm connected way. The lights from the candles shine across the surface to reveal the forms as well as illuminate a space with ambiance. As the candles melt lower and lower, the origin of the light changes to reveal new details in each of the figures.

*note - it is recommended that one use dripless candles and that one use Stik-um wax to secure candles in place.

"In the vein of Willy Wonka’s “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dreams”, I would add “We are the torchbearers, we are the bringers of light.’

While sculpting I was curious to know (and pleased to see) how the light would change on the three figures of the candelabrum as the candles melted, catching sidelight of the features.

I like the idea of a functional piece of art, something I would want on my table, and I promised my mom before she passed away in 2016 that I would make something ‘NICE!’

I learned that candelabra is the plural of candelabrum. Who knew?"
