The installation is separated into two dark, narrow rooms, allowing only a blurred glimpse inside. In one room, 1,976 eggs are scattered across the floor, following a line to the ceiling, awaiting their own incubation. The yellow light in this room undulates with the breathing rhythm of a person in slumber at midnight. Termite wings scatter around, bodiless insects. These eggs were purchased online: artificial shells currently used in poultry farming. Their shape and size resemble those of real eggs.
In the other room, the only light comes from a small pipe hole in the wall, like the lamp on a miner’s helmet. At the center lies an incubator for pigeon eggs. Inside, 24 eggs are incubated within a hatching machine. The box is equipped with a sensor-regulated system controlling temperature and humidity. An ideal environment of 36–37.8 °C is maintained, allowing the artificial eggs to hatch, and the termite wings to become...

L’installation est divisée en deux pièces sombres et étroites, ne laissant entrevoir qu’un aperçu flou de l’intérieur. Dans l’une des pièces, 1 976 œufs sont dispersés sur le sol, suivant une ligne jusqu’au plafond, en attente de leur propre incubation. La lumière jaune de cette pièce ondule au rythme de la respiration d’une personne endormie à minuit. Des ailes de termites sont éparpillées, insectes sans corps. Ces œufs ont été achetés en ligne : des coquilles artificielles actuellement utilisées dans l’élevage avicole. Leur forme et leur taille ressemblent à celles de véritables œufs.
Dans l’autre pièce, la seule lumière provient d’un petit trou de conduit dans le mur, semblable à la lampe sur le casque d’un mineur. Au centre se trouve un incubateur pour œufs de pigeon. À l’intérieur, 24 œufs sont en incubation dans une machine d’éclosion. La boîte est équipée d’un système régulé par capteur contrôlant la température et l’humidité. Un environnement idéal de 36 à 37,8 °C est maintenu, permettant aux œufs artificiels d’éclore, et aux ailes de termites de devenir…
