ORIGINAL IN-STORE DISPLAY POSTER CREATED BY THE AMERICAN POP ARTIST AND PRINTMAKER ANDY WARHOL (1928-1987)
UNTITLED [ Halston Advertising Campaign: Women's Accessories ]
Created by Andy Warhol in 1982 for the famous fashion designer’s range of men’s and women’s evening wear. Warhol incorporated screenprinted blocks of irregularly shaped colors, which appear like collaged fragments of paper, with hand-drawn screenprinted elements. This design is one of four adverts by Warhol featured as posters and double-page magazine spreads for Halston in several publications, including Interview, September 1982 and the New York Times Magazine, September 19, 1982.
The color serigraph (screenprint) poster, printed with flat and gloss inks on smooth paper, has the printed “HALSTON” text along the bottom and Andy Warhol’s printed signature in the plate. The sheet size of the poster with full margins measures 22 5/8 x 28 3/4 inches (575 x 730 mm). Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York. Reference: Feldman/Schellmann IIIB.10.
Illustrated in the book "ANDY WARHOL: THE COMPLETE COMMISSIONED POSTERS 1964-1987", full color illustration N.27, on page 82.
This poster has never been framed, and has been stored away in a flat file for 35 years.
