This work begins The Boyne City Project which is a research project that explores my personal and family history in Michigan/ the American Midwest. This vessel represents the ancestry I cannot fully ever know/access because of the Transatlantic Slave trade—my history that is was known, is imagined, but changed in the rupture of the transatlantic breach (Hartman, 2008).
