"In Pursuit of Caravaggio" is my interpretation of Caravaggio’s life and artistic philosophy. This contemporary abstract work conveys raw emotion and dramatic contrasts, a hallmark of Caravaggio’s Baroque style.
The dominant colors—dark blacks, intense reds, and glowing golds—are a vivid interplay of light and shadow, reminiscent of Caravaggio's mastery of chiaroscuro. The slashes of red evoke violence, rebellion, and passion, referencing the artist’s tumultuous personal life and his status as an outlaw and provocateur. The chaotic brushstrokes mirror his inner turmoil and defiance against societal norms of his era.

The fragmented forms of the human body represents the raw humanity and physical realism that Caravaggio often brought to his religious and mythological subjects. The golden highlights add an ethereal quality, suggesting transcendence and the spiritual undertones that permeated his works, even amidst his earthly struggles.
