Ultimate Affirmation Decal
- Dye-cut Mirrored Vinyl on Glass
- Joe Peragine
The artist Joseph Peragine envisioned this window mural as a rich collage of positive aspects of people’s experience in the Fulton County community. The artwork symbolically affirms the link between the Fulton County employees, working on behalf their community, with the general public they serve each day. Designed to engage anyone who visits or works in the Tax Commissioner’s Office, the mural’s reflective surface “mirrors” the images of citizens, visitors, passersby, and staff alike as integral parts of what makes Fulton County a vibrant, diverse place to live, work and visit.
Elements within the mural include silhouettes of individuals providing community services such as police, educators, social workers, firefighters and artists. Also depicted are citizens and visitors engaged in healthy activities – sports, hiking, walking and play – and cultural pursuits such as singing, dancing, gardening, or reading - enjoying a good quality of life. Co-mingled with these figures are phrases such as “Be Kind”, “Aspire” and “Listen”. The encouraging expressions, combined with icons such as the scales of justice, ladders, and the County’s tree logo, reinforce the artwork’s message of everyone’s desire to be part of thriving, caring and safe community, and of government’s multi-faceted role in facilitating those objectives.
