SUN…orange, green, blue and blue, by artist/architect Amy Landesberg, is a captivating installation consisting of seven stainless steel winged forms. Each form lifts brightly colored translucent glass panels into the air. These vibrant “wings” glow in daylight, casting dramatic abstract shapes across the building’s facade. Acting informally as sun-trackers, the colored shadows change rhythmically throughout the day and seasons, adding variation and visual interest to the building's exterior. The artist describes the effect: “As if a flock of luminous shadow-casters had alighted on the face of the building, the pieces perch on their stainless steel posts in a wind-blown formation.”
The installation adorns the south facade of the building, facing North Highland, on both windowless elevations. The pieces are mounted starting at the 4th-floor level to the west and descend to the 3rd-floor level to the east. The artwork is clearly visible from Highland and Boulevard to the south, as well as from the interior south-facing windows on levels 2, 3, and 4.
Installation was completed in November 2005.
