Healthy Living For A Healthy Community
- Clay Tile (2 murals, 7 framed pieces)
- Kimmy Cantrell
Healthy Living for a Healthy Community, the collective title for artworks installed throughout this facility, depicts gardening, exercise, mental health, clean environment, and good nutrition. The colorful, upbeat imagery reinforces the Adamsville Regional Health Center’s Common Grounds approach to health and community and is intended to enhance the patrons’ experience. Healthy Environment, an installation on the Main Lobby wall at the South Entrance, sets the stage by depicting a scene from nature. The rays of a large sun reach out over a blue-green river with jumping fish and flying birds. On the north wall of the lobby, Healthy Diet shows various fruits, vegetables, fish, and flowers, portraying the beneficial value of wholesome food to a healthy lifestyle. Abstracted faces depicting different emotional states are installed in the Mental Health waiting area. Physical Health shows two graceful, leaping figures above the second-floor reception desk. Landscapes and flowers represent the start of new growth in Planting Seeds. Cantrell actively engaged the community by conducting a workshop for children. Their collaborative work is displayed in the Daycare Area on the second floor.
