MessageThis painting, named in honor of "SideHill Farmers" (a local market & butcher shop founded by my good friend Bee Tolman) is one of my favorites and is pretty typical of barn and landscape paintings that Ive done during the last 10 years.
I started the painting back in 2017 but it wasnt until October of 2019 when I did a small left handed sketch of the same scene could I figure out how to finish it. It was the bottom right corner with the fencepost that was bugging me. Instead of painting over the post, I decided to highlight it. Why not? Oh yeah and the silos didn't have any paint on them. The white was the white canvas showing through. After doing lots of watercolors this year and learning to leave the white of the paper, I thought why not do this with an oil painting?
Or maybe I was too scared to screw up the loose look of the silos so they they are with no paint. Naked silos.
Painted "All Right" with help from a small left handed sketch and a little watercolor technique steal.
