California Blue Mussel in situ, painted from memory and imagination, in oil, on Arches Huile paper, mounted to wood panel. Cut out by hand after conception of the painted subject and mounted to a wooden back panel. The mounting panel allows for more color variation and helps to control the cast shadows when exhibited, incorporating real cast shadows into the composition along with painted cast shadows.
