This small study is one of many done as the artist was transitioning from a more traditional approach to landscape painting to a new, more modern approach.

The point of view has dramatically changed from a more objective distant perspective to a very close, subjective position. The subject isn’t clear and the painting seems to be a rather abstract combination of color, textured brushwork and shapes.

This ambiguous concept draws the viewer in and they are invited to add their thoughts to the mix.
