In the early 1960s, Wright lived in Montmartre, the highest hill overlooking Paris, on the eight floor of a Beaux-Arts apartment building (no elevator) which had a remarkable view of the city from both east and west. He could literally look to the left out his window and see the dome of Sacre-Coeur. This inspired the series, "Under Paris Skies."
