Stargazer Limited Edition of 3
Stargazer is a self-portrait that explores wonder and immense possibilities. Our inability to see the cosmos does not erase its existence and although it is infinite and we are a minute speck in its glory, we are connected through our shared origins.
One of my few bucket-list items is to visit a certified dark skies site in order to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of a celestial sky. I dream of standing under the infinite cosmos and imagining the origins of beauty, existence, and creativity.
In this large scale block print, I attempt to visualize the experience of gazing at the stars, a galaxy, or a fragment of the universe. As a gentle breeze lifts my hair, I begin to blend into the celestial composition, becoming one with the awe-inspiring beauty of the universe.
Inspiration
“The blood flowing through your veins contains iron, an element forged in the core of dying stars. You are stardust.”
A philosopher once asked: “Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?” Neil Gaiman, Stargazer
“The stars shine not just above us; they lie within our reach if we dare to reach for them.”
“Physicists say we are made of stardust. Intergalactic debris and far-flung atoms, shards of carbon nanomatter rounded up by gravity to circle the sun. As atoms pass through an eternal revolving door of possible form, energy and mass dance in fluid relationship. We are stardust, we are man, we are thought. We are story.” Glenda Burgess
“Be humble for you are made of earth.
Be noble for you are made of stars.” Carl Sagan
“You are stardust…
Your entire physiological structure is composed of the remnants of stars that exploded billions of years before you were even conceived. Your entire composition is made up of cosmic fragments of infinite proportion.” Evolutionary Mindset Shifts
