Fury is the portrait of a woman who has had just about enough – from her husband, from her friends, and from the world at large. She may have tears and mascara running down her cheeks, but she’s not backing down. As a woman, I can relate.
This painting may seem edgy and slightly confrontational, but it is meant to be a celebration of the turning point in a woman’s life where she takes the first step to independence and healing. When people visit my studio, she often elicits a chuckle or a knowing nod. Often, people – both men and women – comment that she reminds them of a close friend or family member.
The execution of this portrait deviates somewhat from my typical tight oil painting style as a nod to the energy of the model. When I originally met with her to take reference photos, she immediately took center stage and directed the photo shoot to capture her version of the story; and yes, she brought a rifle to use as a prop!
Dallas is just such a beautiful and spunky woman. When she’s not working on classic cars with her father, she’s modeling as a classic pin-up. How much more interesting and inspirational can one woman be?
