Lacey the hen was a beloved pet chicken who lived and gave eggs for nearly seven years. When I was commissioned to draw this I had no idea of the depth and knowledge of the American Standard of Perfection, which is book for raising Standard Bred Poultry in all its phases with a goal on breeding. It was established in 1874. and still used today.
