A small boat launching area at Keauhou Bay in Kona is one of the best places for local people to have access (a portal) to the ocean. Under ongoing threat of development, this cozy spot has been a favorite place of mine since the 1950s. It was painted in several plein air sessions while a diverse population of paddlers, walkers, sailing students and children came and went through out the day.
