The piece was composed and painted (with permission from the videographer) from several still frames captured from underwater video shot near Hilo Bay. The monochromatic theme of the show lent itself perfectly to an underwater scene. I used a 2:1 mixture of Phthalo Blue to Ultramarine Blue Deep as my base color and modified this using Titanium White and Mars Black to create the range of values and chroma.
