This painting belongs to the series “Lineages”. Started in December 2023, Lineages is an offspring of Kumulipo, a previous series of works named after the Hawaiian sacred chant of creation. In the Polynesian thought, the succession of the generations symbolized by the spine of the “moo”, a giant lizard or dragon and a shape-shifter deity, guardian of springs, ponds and rivers. It is the embodiment of water and its ever-changing forms and conditions. Lineages is a personal figuration of the stream of time, unfolding into the efflorescence of human genealogies, the strings of words in stories, vegetal geometries, or musical frequencies.
