María Fernanda Lavera is a cotemporary artist, from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
MessageInspired by Francis Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece Apocalypse Now, this work delves into the dark recesses of the human psyche during the horrors of war. The film opened a door, inviting reflection on the chaotic and unsettling nature of conflict.
In this piece, fragmented faces clash in a surreal jungle, where reds and blues evoke the tension between chaos and clarity. From the depths of this jungle emerges Mr. Kurtz, portrayed by Marlon Brando, with the snake that coils around him symbolizing his internal darkness.
