I was hiking up the hot and dusty switchbacks just south of Reds Meadows, heavy with my resupply food. I had waited till late in the day to avoid the worst heat. As I climbed the switchbacks, enjoying the views of the Minarets, the sky put on a magnificent light show, with the wild colors getting deeper and deeper. I could hardly believe my eyes. At one moment it looked like the whole world was on fire. That is the moment I tried to recreate here, in Fire In the Sky.
