Statement Artist Statement of Wes Odell
Served: US Army from 1954 - 1957 in Europe
Originally from Berkeley California and now residing in Georgetown Texas since 2004, Wes served when the Army was filled with "Draftee" Soldiers. He decided to enlist in the Regular Army and uphold the family traditions
Art Detail of serving his country in the military. He naturally gravitates to military and action shots, liking to create "vintage images" of the Horse Cavalry, but he is not limited to that. He also is an experimenter doing photographic work with Kodalith, Black and White, Etchings, and Fine Art especially with the (Japanese) Wabi Sabi method. He is a proficient printer of photographs as well as an Educator, Photo Judge, Mentor, and Curator. A member of many photo clubs he has served over the years in almost all the various positions.

Wes Odell - Photographer, Judge, and Educator
After retirement from IBM and three software companies where he was involved in Engineering, Sales, Management, Operations, and as CFO in Finance, Wes taught Marketing and Management at a major Texas university. Later he was on the Environmental Advisory Committee to the Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games, President of the Wasatch Camera Club, and helped to "resurrect" the Photo Division of the Utah State Fair.
Wes has "contributed to the Texas youth community" as a photo judge for several County Fairs, 4-H, and PTA competitions. He has also been a judge for a 750 Photo-Journalism images International Salon.
Since moving to Texas Wes has taught extensively in the Computer Club, Photography Club, Visual Arts Club, as well as the Austin Shutterbug where he was the Education Chairperson.
Wes continued his educational activities at the Photographic Society of America where he served as a member of the Faculty and the Curriculum Committee in their Education Department. He has won a couple PSA Pictorial Prints Division Gold Medals, several awards in PSA's Prints Competitions including two 1st places in Internationals, has had Acceptances at the Texas Photographic Society and Georgetown Art Center and has been published in Utah Travel. He was designated a "Top Fan" for his photo contribution to the Horse Cavalry Detachment, 1st Cavalry Division, Ft Hood.
