Susan Hale Kemenyffy is an American artist known for her work in ceramics, drawing, print, and mixed-media, often exploring themes of nature, mythology, and relationships between humans and animals. With a BFA from Syracuse University, followed by her MA and MFA from the University of Iowa, she has earned recognition for her innovative and expressive approach to storytelling.
Throughout her career, Kemenyffy has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, with her art featured in major collections, museums, and galleries. She has contributed to the arts through mentoring, writing, curating, and traveling the world as a craftsman.
Kemenyffy’s work frequently incorporates organic forms, intricate textures, and narrative elements connecting to the natural world. She often collaborates and works in tandem with her husband, Steve Kemenyffy, who is also a ceramic artist. Upon relocating in McKean, Pennsylvania, Kemenyffy quickly became involved in the Erie community, serving as the President of the Erie Art Museum from 1985 to 1988, as well as contributing to many other boards. She was named Pennsylvania’s Artist of the Year in 2012.
