Rob Katkowski is a Pittsburgh-based painter whose work explores the intersection between reality and the unknown. His abstract landscapes are often characterized by vibrant colors and dream-like transitions. Katkowski’s leafless trees mark thresholds of lost worlds, shimmering ponds hint at submerged passages, and twilight doorways lead to alternative realities creating portals to the unknown.
Born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kratkowski earned a BFA from Ohio State University in 1998 and an MFA from Edinboro University in 2007. Continuing in his artistic endeavors, Kratkowski attended an artist residency at the Brewhouse in Pittsburgh, followed by a Distillery Program residency from 2008 to 2011. His work has been shown across the United States and internationally and is featured in notable collections.
