panel size is 16 x 16 inches

In “Wishes” I think of the orb in this painting as a snow globe containing “glimmers of optimism”. The actual orb that inspired this piece is a Japanese glass fishing float my dad found in the waters off the coast of Hawaii back in 1958, where I was born. I must have subconsciously been thinking of Hawaii as the imagined pattern of the gold tattoo on my model Alice and within the orb remind me of Hawaiian floral designs.
