It depicts a boat carrying seven gods (Daikoku, Ebisu, Hotei, Benten, Bishamonten, Fukurokuju, and Jurojin). They are Japanese gods of Indian origin, famous for bringing happiness and financial luck.
Also in Japan, there is a figurine called a "beckoning cat," which is modeled after a cat washing its face, and this is also revered as bringing good luck and financial fortune. In this work, the beckoning cat is depicted together with the Seven Lucky Gods.
The mountain in the background is Mount Fuji. The crimson color of Mount Fuji reflecting the setting sun is also known to bring financial fortune.
