"The Darling of Slumber", "The Violet Hour Rescue" and "The Flowering" are paintings that touch on feelings of longing and speak to universal human themes of love and a search for some form of enlightenment and connection. The works contemplate the idea of holding two truths, such as "The Violet Hour Rescue", that explores a noble impulse to be the rescuer, while also possessing a romantic desire of one's self to be rescued.

Whether it be the need for an escape into an expanse outside of oneself or deep into the interior landscape of the heart and mind, I view this grouping of new works as a respite. They are all imbued with an emotional quality and are a response to the state of the world and its fraughtness, and despite external destructive and chaotic forces, there remains a pull to find a tranquility within.
